Dear Mama –
Just a few lines to let you know that I am feeling fine and I hope you are the same. There is just about six of us fellows left in the barracks and we don’t have very much to do to pass away the time. Last night we laid up in our bunks and talked or told jokes until after midnight, then liked to have missed roll call this morning. I have heard plenty of rumors that I might get out next week but so far I am not sure yet. We have oil heaters in this barracks so we take turns keeping them filled and sweeping the joint. I had a letter from you today and you said Ola & Rich went to church and I have been wondering which one they went to. (OVER)
I was also glad to hear that Vance and Inez were doing so well because it is about time they were getting a break. Well, Mom I’m getting cold so I think I will go to bed.
Goodnight
Lots & lots of love & kisses
Bill
