Dear Mama –
I would have written sooner but I thought I was going to get out and I was going to wire home. This leaves me feeling fine and I hope this find you well by now. My papers are all in and I should be out within two weeks. Mom, we are really having some cold weather and I think I will carry my overcoat instead of shipping it home. Well this is Thanksgiving and I would sure like to be home with you or else I wish you could have shared my dinner with me. We had everything imaginable and I will bring the menu home for you to see. We got off at 11 A.M., ate at 12:15 and just layed around all the afternoon. If this camp was only close to a nice town it would be a soldiers paradise.
There is just two of us in the barracks tonight and this kid tried to get a discharge and they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. Well, I am listening to his ailments, more thane[than] one hundred I think, and if he doesn’t shut up pretty quick I will be nuts. He goes on like this every day by the hour so I either have to go out or go to bed to get away from him. Since being in this company I have worked in the clothing warehouse so much that I will be able to go to work for The Leader or some other Kike store. Well, I’ll close now hoping to hear from you and that you are well.
Goodnight
Lots & lots of love & kisses
Bill
