Oct. 19-1943
Dear Mama –
Just a few lines to let you know that I am feeling well and I hope this finds you feeling alright. Well, there is another bunch getting discharged next week but I don’t think I will leave for about two weeks yet. I received a letter from you and Ola yesterday and I was sure glad to get them. Mama, don’t you and Ola worry about getting me anything for Christmas as I am pretty sure I will be home by then. One of the fellows, sleeping across from me, is getting out next week and is going to stop over in Mobile. I am going to give him Anna’s name and address so he will probably call her house while he is waiting for a bus to Pensacola.
There isn’t much to do around this camp but eat & sleep, although there is a dance at the service club tonight. Last night we had a U.S.O. show here but it wasn’t so good and I had already seen most of it in Phoenix. Mom, I will close for now and go over to the dance for awhile but I will write again tomorrow.
