Dear Mama –
Just a few lines to let you know that I am doing alright except for being a little shaky yet. The doctor let me out of the hospital this morning but he told me to take it easy for a few days. I went back to work today but I didn’t do much but sit around. I got your mail today and was sure glad to hear from you. Well, Mama I didn’t know that I was so sick until I started to leave and the nurse told me. I also didn’t know how weak my knees were until I walked down the side of one of these mountains. Mama, if Gene gets transferred out here it will probably be close to where I am. Tell Anna
UNITED STATES ARMY [Printed on the top-center of second page in red, under the symbol of U.S. national coat of arms]
To let me know Gene’s address when he moves out to Calif. and I might get to go see him. Well, this is my first night back in the barracks and I am kind of weak so I will close and go to bed. I just wanted you to know that I am OK..
Goodnight
Lots & lots of love & kisses
Bill
