Dear Mama –
Just a few lines to let you know that I am feeling fine and I hope this finds you well. Mama, the weather is fine out here although it gets down around 20° nearly every day. So far we haven’t had any snow but the people seem to be expecting it any time. I worked today and I seem to be getting my strength back pretty quick. It shouldn’t be very long before my discharge comes through as I see my name is on the board to get a final dental exam at 8 AM in the morning. Mama, tell Ola that I am going to send a package to her house within a few days and she can give it to you. You should see (OVER)
the swell fair of boats that I got today and I am going to ship them one day this week. I am also putting a wool muffler in for you and maybe some blankets. You have probably read in the papers about the awful forest fires out here well they are just a few miles from this camp. A premature baby was found on our dump in a glass jar so there is a pretty big stink in camp trying to find out where it came from. Well, Mom I will close for now hoping you are in good health.
Goodnight
Lots & lots of love & kisses
Bill
