The pandemic peaked in Mobile, AL, in late October, 1918. This collection follows news articles from the local newspaper, The Mobile Register, from October, 1918, to January 1, 1919, when the city was breathing a sigh of relief and looking towards the new year with hope. World War I was over, and the influenza pandemic was subsiding. The Register's editorial of January 1, 1919, exclaimed: "Hail great Year! Glad are they who have lived to give you greeting."
